Title

Virtual Tourist Guide – Jonker Street, Melaka.

 

Abstract

Virtual Tourist Guide – Jonker Street is a simulation of an existing location, it is composed of a sequence of hyperlinked still or video images, and/or virtual models of the real location. It’s a portal where the user could have not only walkthrough experience, but to interact with each other and purchase items by using e-commerce through the internet.

Tourist may also benefit the information of shops, activities, history for the tourists to plan ahead their trips.

Target Audience

Young Adults

Age Range: 18 – 30 years old 

Goal

The main goal of Virtual Tourist Guide-Jonker Street is to promote tourism and attract tourist from all over the world to visit Jonker Street, as well as to boost up and generate sales and business opportunities between locals and foreign countries through e-commerce.

Jonker Street had been there since 1625, therefore, there were a lot of development had been made in and around Jonker Street. Meanwhile, Jonker Street or unofficially said to be the Antique Street as many antique shop selling old artifact and antique item here. It attracts a lot of tourist from all over the world to visit and witness the uniqueness or to hunt for antiques and local handicraft.

Virtual Tourist Guide-Jonker Street is created to preserve these beautiful architectural building along Jonker Street because of its great value of assets for tourism and national heritage.

Virtual Tourist Guide-Jonker Street is also proposing e-commerce for the locals to generate potential business opportunities and thus it equally benefits both shop owner and the government.

For those who has not get the opportunity to visit JonkerStreet, Virtual Tourist Guide-Jonker Street would be a solution for you and surely give a revive experience when you walkthrough Jonker Street.

Objectives

  • To immerse the user through realistic visuals and audio effects.
  • To identify pictograph has different messages.
  • To understand the message behind pictograph through pop-up menu.
  • To allow user to explore pop-up window through 360 degrees.
  • To allow user to do e-commerce through a pop-up window containing security webpage.

 

Benchmark





Description

Level 1

On the start page before the user starts the VR application, there will an option for the user to register in the community or login.

Level 2

When the user chooses register, there will be a window containing security webpage for the user to register.

Level 3

Login with the username and password.

Level 4

Before entering Jonker Street, there’ll be a set of instructions on how to navigate, options to load info, history, and help.

Level 5

Entering Jonker Street. Walkthrough Jonker Street.

Level 6

Entering shop. Before you enter the shop, there will be a character greeting the user, and give a brief explanation about the business in the shop.

Level 7.

When you enter the shop, there will be a pop menu conveying a set of instruction for the user to purchase item.

Level 8

Purchasing item. The user could select the item to purchase and a pop up window will appear. The user can have the opportunity to explore 360 degrees of the item. Then, there’ll be an option whether to purchase it or not. If the user is satisfy and would want to purchase, the user can select Purchase and a pop up window will appear. The user has to fill up all the information needed to purchase the item in the security webpage.

Level 9.

The user has to walk towards the end of Jonker Street to end the virtual tour.

Interaction Description

  • User will be able to use keyboard for the information of registration.
  • User will be able to consoler to navigate inside the world.
  • User will be able to toggle ON or OFF in the menu to show an interactive map and their present location.
  • When a user walks into the area of interaction, a text message will be appear to tell the bottom to give information about the clickable object.
  • When the user click on the object, a pop-up window will appear, the user can enjoy 360 panorama of the item and purchase the item.
  • When the user purchases the item, user has to communicate using keyboard.
